Specialist Bathing and Level Access Shower Rooms –
We tend to find that residents with mobility issues value safety alongside their independence. You can effectively give your resident that sense of well-being with the installation of a specialised bathing solution. We will discuss your requirements with you and highlight the benefits of each option. For example, when you consider that it can take two carers to bath a single resident, yet a single carer can shower three people in the same time, the facilities we provide could save you time and improve efficiency.
A level access shower is defined as a shower with no step or lip between the floor and the shower area. This means that they are ideal for wheelchair users or those with limited mobility, as there is no step or threshold to have to “navigate” in order to get into the shower. This increases accessibility and helps to maintain people’s independence.
More and more care homes are choosing level access showers because of their safety and simplicity. Avoidance of the risk of tripping or slipping in what can be a hazardous area, is further enhanced by the ease with which these areas can be maintained in first class hygienic condition.
Any adaptions that take place are in consultation with you and using our specialist expertise in this area we can help with the design and planning of your new specialised bathing solution. From concept to completion our expert installation teams will take care of it all, including all plumbing and electrical work, floor and wall finishes and the installation of any accessories you choose. The days of sanitised and institutionalised bathrooms are now well and truly over. The style of the room can be made to look however you wish. A wet room can use stylish tiling to create a luxury finish in conjunction with a non-slip safety floor. There are a huge range of colours and styles to choose from, all of which can be complemented from a range of functional, yet stylish accessories.More information on level access showers

Mobility Equipment and Patient Handling –
When it comes to patient handling and mobility equipment, AGA really do have a solution for every requirement.
Often the issue of standing and patient transfer is one of the most important for resident and carer alike. AGA can offer a solution in the form of a sit-to-stand lift which assists a resident to stand and the carer to position that individual comfortably and safely.
When it comes to repositioning a resident in their bed, a slide sheet is a very effective aid and often made of a tough, lightweight material that is folded into two layers to give an easy gliding action. The sliding interface comes between two fabric sheets rather than in between the fabric and the resident’s skin, so friction is minimised and comfort is increased.
Equally AGA are able to provide and install ceiling track hoists and mobile hoists which enable safe and convenient resident transfers from Bed to Chair or for toileting. With the reliable and high quality products we offer, every care home can be confident of safe resident manoeuvring with those that are frail and where mobility is restricted. As always, we work with you to ensure that we listen to your needs whilst taking into account the safety of your residents and staff.
We know that as a good care home you will be able to demonstrate the highest of standards in all areas of your business. However, we know that keeping on top of it all is time consuming and a headache when it comes to keeping up with legislative changes and your lifting equipment.
CQC will monitor, inspect and regulate a care home to ensure its safety and care meet the required standards, but they are not the only standards that care homes need to meet. LOLER & PUWER regulations place responsibility on people and care home owners who operate and control lifting equipment.
In most cases lifting equipment is also work equipment and so the Provision and Use of Work Equipment Regulations (PUWER) also apply. LOLER also has a requirement whereby any equipment used for lifting is fit for purpose, appropriate for the task, suitably marked and subject to statutory periodic thorough examination with records kept for inspection.
AGA can help provide further peace of mind by way of a scheduled programme of certification, to ensure the compliance of your equipment. We offer a simple low cost monthly payment plan. As part of our service, we offer one advanced sling assessment workshop free of charge every six months for up to five people.
Sling Assessment Service –
Patient slings are an integral feature within any care environment. Carers rely on these when completing their everyday duties which could include transferring residents between chairs and beds and when it comes to helping them to use the toilet.
Assessing a resident for and using the correct sling will give the resident a feeling of safety and provide the carer with absolute control of the movement of the individual. With this in mind, AGA offer a Sling Assessment Service designed to test the compliance of slings already in use within the home. Ensuring that each sling is fit for purpose and using our knowledge and expertise, we are then in a position to help advise the Care Home owner on each sling’s suitability and to recommend improvements.
With compliance very much in mind, we know that with LOLER, PUWER and CQC standards being extremely strict, equipment needs to be up to standard and fit for purpose. With so many slings available, AGA will be able to guide you towards the most suitable solution for your home, whilst keeping you compliant. We are also able to run advanced sling assessment workshops for your staff, to enable them to assess a residents needs correctly and to use any new equipment correctly.More information about slings
Asset Register –
Unfortunately regulations don’t stop with compliance, there are codes of practice and standard operating procedures that require care home owners to maintain documentation for; mattress surveys, bed testing and schedules of equipment.
None of these help you provide care for your residents and all of them force your senior management team to take time away from the more important elements of managing your home.
Every care home needs to keep a record of their assets along with any related maintenance schedules. Equipment needs to be fit for purpose and safe for use, so individual pieces need to be thoroughly and routinely checked with any repairs completed in a timely manner.
As we all know, the CQC will not only inspect the equipment used in the home, but will look at the related paperwork. Following on from our compliance plan, AGA offer a service where we will compile a register for you which will control what assets a home has in case of theft, but also one that will track maintenance schedules of essential equipment and keep it safe and compliant.
Once again, peace of mind with AGA.
We can bring our workshops to your care home and ensure that your staff receive the highest quality training on your premises. Our aim is to support your care home to ensure that standards are met and maintained and to allow you to focus on the running of the business. Whatever training is required, whether it be on the use of equipment, patient handling or another area of required expertise, AGA are able to use their knowledge to further support the home.
Care Home Equipment Rental –
This is a new part to our business and is designed to help the care home manage their cash flow whilst having the necessary equipment in place immediately. It can be extremely costly when looking to procure vital furniture and equipment, so leasing long term or short term will very often provide another way of financing and be the solution for the care home owner.
Medical Equipment Rental –
In the same way as renting care home equipment, AGA are able to offer specialist medical equipment on short term rental.
Whatever the particular care need might be, the care home owner can now rent rather than buy outright. From humidifiers, syringe drivers, oxygen concentrators, ventilators and many more, AGA can now help with every area of supplying the care homes equipment needs and with affordability, quality and reliability all in one.
